The team here at Embrace Dignity is working up to our official Launch on June 15th 2011, at the Maremoto Hotel and restaurant in Cape Town. There is a lot of excitement here at the office as we pull out all the stops to make it a well attended and well remembered event!
The Launch will give us a chance to share who we are, what we're about, what we do and who we help. We are expecting to see local media, ED partners and friends on the night. Although the details are strictly under wraps for now, I can reveal that there will be a stunning art exhibition and fun after-party at the same venue!
Our website is going to be going live within the next two weeks but in the meantime, we are excited to be able to communicate with like-minded people through our interactive blog and encourage you to leave comments on future posts. You can of course check us out on Facebook by joining our Fan Page and follow us on Twitter - EDignity.
I will be sure to post some pics of the shenanigans on the night, but should you like to join us in person please email Kate at embracedignity@telkomsa.net to rsvp.

We need a movement to end prostitution. Some think prostitution is inevitable and see it as a way to put food on the table. The reality is that for the majority who are in prostitution it is not out of choice, but a lack of choice. These are people who have been pushed to the margins of the economy and in the main they are women and girls. We need to ask if prostitution is inevitable, why should it be the poor and mainly women and girls whose lives must be put at risk in order to put food on the table? Do women and girls not want the same as men - education and employment opportunities? What policy choices do we want as a nation to give all their basic socio-economic rights - rights guaranteed in our consitution?
